The Funk can not only move, it can remove....the desired effect is what you get when you improve your interplanetry funksmanship......dig!

My bass career used to stem around smoking to much weed and jammin funk in E thats all i used to know....i'm only really learning to play now and i been learnig for 7 years and stopped smoking weed ish...
I worked out some bits to Rumpolesteelskin once and a bit of Bootsy!

"5am" aint no time I ever heard of?! ;D Jeez, man, that is early! Anyway, you know what I'm gonna say.. you'll never be good enough to work it out if you dont start somewhere. It's probably a pretty simple part in essence, most funk tunes are... you;ve got me intreagued now, I'll go hom and have a crack at it myself I think Why not commit to working out just one bar of each section per day? You'll have most of the song worked out in a week or so

Yeah man, i recall coming home around that time for bed in the Cue club (Birmingham Atomic Jams) days after spending a night licking the speakers particularly in the Funk room which they occassionally had. Yes the joys of my lady, she has sent me out to work for the Post Office and i work in a MDEC center on a computer allday laughing at peoples handwriting! thankfully it is only temporary! But yeah, stupid PO don't know why they need to start so god damn early....not healthy at all!....and certainly not funky!

Funk, get ready to roll, funk get ready to roll... BootySkid OK, I worked out the main riffs in this tune when I got home from work last night... I forgot what great bass this tune has in it! The entire tune is built around A minor (dorian) and A blues scale. Each main riff comprises notes entirely from these two scales. A dorian = A B C D E F# G A A blues scale = A B C D Eb E G A The intro/verse popped riff and the chorus (the one that doubles the viocal line) are both very simple. The trick to working stuff out by ear is to sing it, properly and completely, first. Once you've got it you sing the first note, then find it on your bass - and so on. The outro riff (what a goddam awesome bassline!) is a bit more tricky, but if you learn to sing it first it should be pretty easy to pick up. And no, I'm not going to give you any actual notes! ;D Like I said, sing it, find the first note and take it from there

how do you get faster? By playing as slowly as necessary to keep your timing precise and play a line properly. I know that Dave Buda - faculty member at Berklee in Boston- is one of the best slappers around (great player- played in Boston Pops in shadow of his father Fred Buda) and going as slow as necessary to play smooth and with a metronome is what makes speed happen ultimately. Also touch as lightly as possible while still getting a solid ring. Then it's just practice and patience.
