Hi Ryan, I usually use the harmonics at the 5th and 7th frets to tune up (usually make sure the G string is in tune).
7th fret harmonic (G) to 5th fret harmonic (D). 7th fret harmonic (D) to 5th fret harmonic (A). 7th fret harmonic (A) to 5th fret harmonic (E).
I used to use the same as you when I first started playing, but soon switched to the above as the bass teacher I had at the time told me that these harmonics were more prominent.
