im looking for a good sound i play alot of slap and all that! so i was wondering what the advantiges that i can get if i get active over passive ?? ??

In my experiance active pick ups give you a brighter tone as opposed to passive. You'll also find that new strings help imensly. You'll never get a really good slap tone on old strings IMO Having said that i've got a passive set up on my jazz and it sounds nice. Not quite as nice as Ryans music man though

Just to add to that- Strings (typ & guage) and set up is very important fer getin the slap sound you want- and you gota remember you need to be able to switch to a good finger pic sound too! But yeah I gota say i use mostly active basses (though it should'ne matta as it's all about the way you play ) Peace n luv
