I'm tring to get a good sound out of my bass....i need it to have a more warm, bassy sound....I'm thinking of trying some different strings.I currently use a Tanglewood Warrior 2 bass & have quite heavy strings on it (G=60 gauge,i think).Wot do u think?? I play in an emocore band & would like a bassy, but appropriate sound.Sorry if this makes no sense!!!

the heavier the gauge is the warmer the sound will be 60's are fine realy i use 40's and can still get a realy bassy sound-personaly i think it wold be better to mess around with your set up rather than your strings! any1 els have any sugesstions? by the way whats your band called and have u got a site check out www.nineteen52.co.uk

I like the feel of Elixir Bass Strings (featured on top line Ibanez's's) such as my BTB3000E prestige. They sound great and last ages, which can't be a bad thing.... LoL!

Groundwounds feel like normal roundwounds but don't have a lot of "top end" on them (so to speak). Flatwounds have a warmer sound than groundwounds -they're more like the strings used on the double bass (I've got a set of Elites flatwounds on my Washburn AB20). Another couple of things you could try - a) Roll off some of the treble on your bass or the rig. b) If you've got two pickups on your bass, try playing over the front one - if not, pick closer to the edge of the fingerboard. Not really sure if this will help (what's emocore? - never heard of it..... ). Cheers, Louis.

I use Fender Flatwounds on my Wilkes custom fretless, They give such a good tone. Nice and fat, smooth!! I once tried a set on me fretted bass but because they are smooth over it made it difficult to really feel where your hand was, making it hard to play!! Only my opinion thought! By the way im the bassist from www.theexploitsofelaine.com
