Ernie ball custom: ‘flats’ price £19.50 I've used a few US made flats available in the last 7 years. They come in 4 different sets called Group I, II, III, & IV. Range is 55-110, 50-105, 45-100, and 40-95. They feel and sound evenly balanced I have used 40-95 as it suits my style and they fell comfortable.

This is what I mainly use on all my basses as I have them set up quite low, they are also very popular with acoustic basses. Range 40-60-70-95, I do like to use a 35 instead of the 40 but as I play quite hard I tend to break them.

Rated for a warmer heavier bass sound. (note super slinky round wood are nickel) ‘Absolutely fantastic. I've been playing since March 2002 (got a teacher in September) and I needed something to add to my sound. Since the strings on my bass are 2 years old I decided this would be the cheapest and easiest way to get something new sounding on my bass. It was exactly what I needed! With some heavy experimenting with percussive techniques, these gave the exact amount of punch and brightness that I needed. They were a little rough at first (the old strings were flats; only strings I had ever used before), but by the end of the second DAY of playing, my fingers had grown thick calluses and they were really comfortable’.
