I think the D# Harmonic you are talking about is the one when you fret the 2 fret on the A string and play the harmonic on the 6th fret. Its a bit of a stretch. getting clearer harmonics: plucked nearer the bridge and pluck hard!! and make sure you find the point inwhich tthe harmonic is loudest, depending on how well made your bass is the harmonics are slightly different. Also have quite a bit of treble on you sound, not too much mind else all your hear is the thud of you plucking hand!!
Tis a great song though, I learnt it myself a few weeks ago!!

It's one of those songs I still haven't heard - I'm gonna try and find it and see what all the fuss is about.

Fret the 9th fret on the G and D string then stretch your pinky and play the harmonic on the 14th fret

Although Jaco did it wth left hand stretched there are easier ways if you use right hand harmonics. For instance, instead of the 2nd to 6th fret stretch, try fretting the 2nd fret as normal and then placing your right thumb gently on the same string where the 30th fret would be and pluck with your right index finger.
You can do the same (although it's trickier) for the nightmare chord at the end. Instead of barring the 9th fret and stretching to the 13th, fret the 9th and lie your right thumb across the strings where the 25th fret would be and pluck with your index, middle and ring fingers.

That would make more sense - a stretch of the magnitude is bloody difficult (mind you I have got little hands!)

Here's another option if you don't fancy using right hand harmonics -
Fret the B on the 7th fret of the E string an stretch to the 11th for the harmonic. You can then play the 4t fret harmonics at the 9th fret of the D and G strings ( which are the same pitch as the 4th fret harmonics).
Have fun, Alun
